Take off or not Take off
The Task
"Take off or not Take off ?"

The plane (jet or screw) stands on a runway. The runway has a mobile covering (such as the tape conveyor). This mobile covering can move against a direction of plane running. Also, the
covering has a control system which arranges speed of cloth movement so that wheels rotation speed of the plane was equal to speed of cloth movement . A question: whether the plane on this cloth can run up and take off?
The remark: this task for the first time has appeared in our Saint-Petersburg Higher Military Engeneering School for Signal Communications. In dispute two teachers of physics and one professor have been involved. All participants of discussion have received different result! To not affect your reasonings, positions and weight ratios of the the parties I shall not result.

Best regards, StealthmaN

Are we talking about vertical take-off aircraft or not. VTOL aircraft will take-off without a problem.
Normal aircraft will probably burn the wheel bearings and/or tires (whichever burns first).
Does this discussion have any real life application? I personally would love to see those professors sitting in a cockpit while they are trying to take-off from this runway.

It's like trying to swim against the river flow. The faster you go the stronger the river. What are the chances?
