Why didn't the United States build the largest aircraft like An-225 of Ukraine?

first, An-225 was not built by Ukraine or Russia - it was built by Soviet Union.
The difference is in SU times financial situation was different there and they were able to afford it.
It is not that Russia can't afford it now. The question comes to mind: "Why?"
It is used now to carry freight that won't fit in any other aircraft. I spoke with one of An-225 pilots. He said that aircraft is great, easy to handle etc. but fully loaded it barely climbs-up.
I verified that with other former Aeroflot pilots who happened to vitness the climb ratio of An-225.

I don't know. It's that just US doesn't need this kind of plane right now, not that it is impossible to build.

Sukhoi make right now KR-860 - civil aircraft. It can transport up to 860-900 passengers. It will be larger than A380 and maybe than AN-225.

It will be CIVIL airplane.

Kr-860?

You sure the project is still alive? I don't see any new photos or any news other than those of 1999 . it would be sad if the project has been discontinued.

AN-225 was built to transport the Buran space shuttle, fuel tank, and rocket boosters all at once.

US chose to use multiple aircraft instead.

Just a difference in approach.
