Yes, you did say that.

But, apparently our sources disagree.

On other sites there has been speculation as to the validity of the defectors reports.

With some saying "propaganda puppet."

True? Hard to say.

But, with the reclassification of many documents once available for public viewing going all the way back to the 1950's, under the auspecies of national security.

We may never know.

I agree.
But keep but the real stats of the SR-71 are still classified. The SR-71 didn't ahve to outrun the missiles, it just had to get out of its range before it got hit and at mach 3+ cruise, it did that pretty darn well.

My guess is that the SR-71 could go 150,000 ft+

Think about it- It cruises at 100,000 at Mach 3
Pull into an optimal energy efficient climb at that inital altitude and velocity, and you are going to get up there before you run out of velocity.

BUt I guess we'll never know for sure, or for some time yet.
