As current production lines.MiG goes for A large Interceptor, MiG-31. A Light weight fighter, 29, both with associated varients.
Sukhoi's focus is toward the Flanker Family, which are Heavy Weight Fighters. They combine the agility of a Light Weight, climb rates better than a F-16 or 18 which are no slouches, with a huge internal fuel capicity, and up 10 AAM's, more than any other fighter jet, including the F-15 or Raptor.
Case in point the F-15 in a wet 3 condition still does not have the fuel a Su-27 has, and without external tanks cannot carry as many AAM's.
So I would have to vote Sukhoi, as the Flanker posesses the best of both worlds.
Flankers can move like lightweights, yet pack the punch and range of a heavy.
The prototype 35 and 37, had provisions for 12-14 AAM's and even greater maneuverability.
All while keeping or maybe even improving on, internal fuel capacity.
Is it any wonder the US has spend billions(USD) on the Raptors devlopement and over 100M per plane for building, while in an uprecedented budgit deficit, and is still working on the JSF.
Why? The Flanker family is that good.
MiG? Many who look with an open mind see the results of the Cope India excersizes, and the CONUS with the reunified Luftwaffe. See a deadly aircraft in the 29.
Are either in their present incanations better than the Raptor?
Overall, NO.
