UAV and UCAV
After Georgian war (2008) Russia realises that UAV and UCAV are more important. Tu-22MR was shot down. The losses are to high than a loss of UAV. Also UAV is more difficult to "see" on the radar.
Russia in the cold war was the leader in UAV R&D. Due to lake of money and maybe other reasons Russia remain behind others like US and Israel.
Howeverm there are few UAV in Russia like - Zond, SKAT, Pchela etc.
Why Russia signed a 53 mil $ for 12 Israeli UAV?
Why they don't use them UAV?
I know Israel agree to sell 12 UAV to Russia only if Russia will refuse to sell S-300 SAMs to Iran.
I don't know details about what kind of UAV is talking about. Maybe Russia wants to see at work Israeli UAV and then to copy them.
